A 40-year-old man was shot and crashed his vehicle in a Metchosin ditch early Monday morning. Police believe the shooting happened elsewhere and are asking for witnesses.
West Shore RCMP found a man with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle that crashed in a Metchosin ditch early Monday. Police believe the man was shot at another location and was driving when he veered off Kangaroo Road between Sooke and Lindholm roads. West Shore RCMP responded to a call of the crashed 2002 white Hyundai Accent at 3:09 a.m. Metchosin Fire and Rescue and B.C. Ambulance paramedics also attended. The man, 40, was taken to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.
Police said the driver had gunshot wounds to his body, but did not elaborate. There was no immediate word on his current condition. Police are seeking witnesses and asking anyone with information about the incident to call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264. Anyone with dash cam footage recorded in the area of Kangaroo Road between midnight and 4 a.m. Monday is also asked to call RCMP. An investigation, which RCMP said is in its early stages, is ongoing. No arrests have been made. Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident and said there is no threat to public safety. Cpl.
