A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a police shooting in Toronto Monday morning.

According to a Special Investigations Unit news release, Toronto police officers were first called to a park in the area of Black Creek Drive and Trethewey Drive around 8 a.m. for a report of a man who was brandishing a knife and threatening a man who was walking a dog.

Toronto paramedics told CBC News earlier Monday that an ambulance was called in around 8 a.m., and an adult man was rushed to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. Toronto police Insp. Suzanne Redman also spoke to reporters about the incident Monday morning but provided few details, citing the ongoing SIU investigation.

Reporters asked other questions about what happened before the man was injured, but Redman would not provide any other details.
