He put the Bunnings worker in a choke hold and punched him twice, breaking his jaw. 9News
A judge has warned a Brisbane vigilante who attacked a Bunnings worker at a bus stop in a case of mistaken identity to seek help for his angry outbursts.
Alex John Beeston, 32, attacked and broke Edward Haynes' jaw at a bus stop in Capalaba, east of Brisbane, in April last year after believing he had attacked a woman. He was found guilty this week of grievous bodily harm and common assault, and was sentenced in the Brisbane District Court today to three-and-a-half years' jail, to be suspended after 19 months.
His trial was told Beeston confronted Mr Haynes, who was waiting to catch a bus home after work, after hearing a woman screaming. He put Mr Haynes in a choke hold and punched him twice, breaking his jaw. The court heard Mr Haynes, who required surgery, is now too scared to travel by bus and no longer loves his job.
