A man who witnesses told police was lying in the roadway died Friday morning after he was hit by a vehicle in East Oakland.
OAKLAND — A man apparently lying in the roadway died Friday morning after he was struck by a pickup truck in East Oakland, authorities said.The fatal collision happened about 10:30 a.m. Friday in the 9100 block of International Boulevard.
Police said that according to witnesses, the man was lying in the roadway when he was struck by the truck. Why he was in the roadway remains under investigation, police said.Police said the truck driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.Streets in the area were shut down while police investigated.
