A second man pleaded guilty to robbery earlier this year.
Tayyab A. Ware, 31, of Augusta, Georgia, was found guilty of murder, felony murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and weapons-related offenses in connection with the homicide of Denny Sanchez, 34, of Franklin, according to a joint statement from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and the Franklin Township Police Department. Ware’s co-defendant, Todd Smith, 32, of Edison, previously pleaded guilty on Jan.
The two men entered the barber shop on Hamilton Street in the Somerset section of Franklin Township on Nov. 2, 2020, one armed with a gun, and told everyone to get down stating, “You know what time it is,” the office said. Money was taken from the room before Sanchez was fatally shot, prosecutors said.
After a two-month investigation, Smith was arrested at a Clark shopping center, and Ware was taken into custody at a Georgia home, police said. Ware was remanded to the Somerset County Jail following the guilty verdict and is scheduled to be sentenced on April 18, the office said.
