Authorities are investigating a “suspicious circumstance death” after a man was found dead in a truck that was reportedly set ablaze in Oakland on Saturday evening.
Mountain Boulevard in the East Oakland Hills, where a deceased man was found inside a truck that was set ablaze, according to city authorities.
The Oakland Police Department said it received reports of the burning truck on the 9500 block of Mountain Boulevard in the East Oakland Hills just after midnight. The Oakland Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire, after which it discovered a body inside of the vehicle parked on the residential street.
The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, authorities said, and investigators from the Oakland Police Department’s homicide section are still looking into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. The Oakland Fire Department was not immediately available to provide additional details to SFGATE. The coroner’s office is in the process of trying to confirm the man’s identity and contact his relatives before releasing his name, the East Bay Times
