Officers responded about 4:45 p.m. to the 3900 block of Gannon Lane, near South Westmoreland Road, where they found Pierre Jernigan, 36, shot outside an apartment.Jernigan died there, police said. According to a police report, he was shot by a resident while entering the apartment.Officers are investigating the shooting, and the case will be referred to a grand jury to determine whether charges should be filed.
