A Siksika Nation man died after being shot by Mounties in Strathmore on Christmas Day, according to nation officials.

No details about the man’s condition were provided by RCMP Sunday, but a statement posted to Facebook by Siksika Nation’s chief and council on Monday states the man died due to his injuries. “Siksika chief and council send our love, thoughts and prayers to the deceased member’s family and will follow up in the investigation,”Alberta’s police watchdog, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, is investigating the shooting. The RCMP has also initiated an internal investigation into the incident.
