A man who allegedly charged at an off-duty detective with a tire iron was fatally shot by the officer in Southeast Houston, police said.
Houston police officers said the incident happened after the man was escorted out of a restaurant following closing time at 11 p.m. Sunday, according toThe man left the restaurant, located on Gulfgate Mall, but returned minutes later with a tire iron in his hand, police said.
A restaurant employee reported him to the security guard, who works as a detective with Liberty County District Attorney’s Office. Police told KPRC that the man charged at the off-duty detective with the tire iron, and the detective then shot the suspect multiple times.Police said the detective was not injured, and that they are investigating the shooting.
