Toronto police say the worker was found unconscious in the area near Bayview Avenue and Finch Avenue East after the trench he was in collapsed.
Warlock Crescent and Sawley DriveThey said a man was working in a trench, and became stuck when the sides of the trench collapsed. Police said they found the man unconscious.
First responders performed CPR and officers are assisting with an emergency run to hospital, police said. Constable David Hopkinson said while he could not comment on the status of the patient, emergency runs to hospital are reserved for serious injuries. “It is the fastest way to get somebody in the hospital,” Hopkinson said. “It's reserved specifically when we believe somebody's life is threatened.”
Paramedics said they took a man in critical condition to a trauma centre and are assessing a second patient at the scene.
