A Mexican citizen was sentenced this week to more than 14 years in federal prison for planning to ship a rocket launcher and other weapons to Mexico, as well as trafficking drugs in the United States, according to the Justice Department.

The seal for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas hangs on the wall at the Federal Courthouse Tuesday Sept. 18, 2018 in Houston.

Gonzalez-Diaz was charged after federal agents raided a building and seized eight and a half kilograms of heroin, two kilograms of cocaine, a rocket launcher, a rocket propelled grenade launcher, multiple other guns and more than $111,000 in cash, according to a court records. Prosecutors described the cash as"drug proceeds" in a press release. At least one of the weapons was hidden inside a stereo speaker and being prepared for transport to Mexico, according to prosecutors.

Gonzalez-Diaz was connected to Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. The raid was conducted as part of an undercover investigation that infiltrated the cartel, prosecutors said. Gonzalez-Diaz was residing in Houston and living the country illegally, according to a press release. Once he serves his sentence he was expected to be deported.
