A 49-year-old man from Sudbury has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of Corey Hynes, 52, in Jocelyn Township. The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking for any information from the public.

Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police have arrested and charged a 49-year-old man from Sudbury in relation to the murder investigation in Jocelyn Township, a small municipality located on St. Joseph Island.

“On Jan. 6 at approximately 2:45 p.m., the East Algoma OPP responded to a report of a deceased person that was located in the vicinity of P Line Road, in Jocelyn Township,” the OPP said in a release. The East Algoma OPP crime unit is continuing the investigation under direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, working in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Jan. 30 in Sudbury.

“The investigation is on-going. There is no threat to public safety. Further information will be released as it becomes available,” the release said.
