Halifax Regional Police have charged a man with aggravated assault in the stabbing of another man last year during a riot on Dalhousie University’s homecoming weekend.of homes during an unsanctioned party in the area of Jennings and Larch streets on Oct. 1 of 2022. Fire were lit, fireworks set off and fights broke out as some people clashed with police.

In the middle of the chaos, a 19-year-old man was stabbed. He was taken to hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening. On Jan. 11 police had a suspect and asked for the public’s help in identifying him, and that resulted in officers going to New Brunswick and arresting a man in Moncton with the help of Codiac RCMP.

Austin Wambolt, 19, has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
