A man at the center of a Missing Indigenous Person Alert was found dead Thursday, according to the Denver Police Department.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued the alert for Wanbli Vigil Tuesday. He was last seen leaving the 3400 block of Knox Court in the Denver area around 2 p.m. on Dec. 29, 2022.Authorities are investigating Vigil's death as non-criminal and say it does not appear to be suspicious. The Missing Indigenous Person Alert is part of Senate Bill 22-150, which was signed into law on July 1 last year. It went into effect on Dec. 30.
The law required the Colorado Department of Public Safety to create the Office of Liaison for Missing or Murdered Indigenous Relatives and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to operate a missing Indigenous person alert program.
