A man suspected of fatally shooting a woman in Long Beach was arrested by Los Angeles police Sunday, March 20, authorities said.
The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of Artesia Boulevard and Cherry Avenue, said Allison Gallagher, spokesman for the Long Beach Police Department. Responding officers found a woman with gunshot wounds and rendered aid before she was taken to a hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel, Gallagher said.A man was believed to have shot the woman before fleeing the area, she said. The motive for the shooting was under investigation, according to Gallagher.
Later on, officers found a possible suspect and attempted to contact him before he fled the area in a vehicle, prompting a pursuit, Gallagher said. The suspect was later taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department, she said. The circumstances behind the suspect’s arrest or any identifying information were not immediately available.
