Nanaimo RCMP says a man has been arrested in connection with an assault that was caught on video in October.

The victim received serious injuries and was hospitalized following the assault.

The minutes-long attack was all caught on camera and the surveillance video shared with CHEK News shows a group of people sitting in front of a tattoo shop on Nicol Street Tuesday morning. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, violence erupts. Not long into the beating, the suspect goes limp, but that doesn’t stop the attacker from returning time and time again to kick and stomp him before eventually dragging the victim across the sidewalk and walking away.

Nanaimo RCMP says an arrest warrant was issued for 45-year-old Brent Houle on Nov. 8, and he was arrested on an unrelated trespassing incident on Nov. 21.
