A man in his 50s who lives in the building is facing firearms charges after the “volatile situation” ended with his arrest, said Vancouver police spokesman Sgt. “A person who was with the man when he began firing quickly fled and called 911, reporting that the shooter had been acting strangely for several days,” said Addison. Police surrounded the building and evacuated neighbours in harm’s way before trying to talk to the suspect. “About 90 minutes after the first shot was fired, a man exited the apartment armed with a loaded gun and a knife,” said Addison. Officers were able to arrest him after firing less-lethal ARWEN rounds. The suspect was not seriously injured, he said.Share this Story:
