THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Police allege an officer was bitten, threatened and attacked by a man threatening Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre staff on Wednesday afternoon.
In a release issued on Thursday, police say the man pulled an "edges weapon" from his bag, after telling officers and hospital security he had a gun in his possession. However, the man did become combative again as he was escorted to waiting police vehicle, and allegedly bit the officer. A 27-year-old male from Cat Lake, Ont. was arrested and charged with three counts of assault with a weapon, assaulting a police officer, uttering threats of death or bodily harm, mischief under $5,000 and two counts of assault. The accused appeared in court on Thursday and was remanded into custody awaiting a future court date.
