Josh Rickard said he 'began to feel something was off' when he started to approach the motionless cat.
An animal lover has recalled the moment he went over to pet a cat lying in the street, only to encounter an unexpected surprise.Josh Rickard, who lives in a city in the Canadian Prairies, likes nothing more than going for a long walk in the evening and the opportunity it presents to engage with some of the local wildlife.'It's not uncommon to encounter all sorts of animals such as deer, moose, foxes, and coyotes as well as the neighborhood pets,' Rickard told Newsweek.
'However, when the cat failed to respond, he became concerned. 'It seemed to be scared and frozen in place just looking at me. I continued to try and coax it and took a couple of steps forward. Again nothing. Finally, I stood up and began to cross the street, but after only a few steps I began to feel something was off,' he said.It was only when he finally got close to the 'cat' that he realized the truth and began to laugh out loud. It wasn't a cat at all.
