A woman who was strangled and then run over by her assailant in Aurora has died, and police have arrested a suspect in the case.
At about 4:30 a.m. on March 4, officers responded to reports of an injured woman in a parking lot near East 11th Avenue and Peoria Street, police said in a news release. The victim, who had suffered serious injuries, was taken to a local hospital.
The woman told investigators she had met a man who drove her to the location and strangled her into unconsciousness, according to the release. The assailant pushed the victim out of a vehicle and ran her over. The victim, who was down in the parking lot for about more than two hours before being found, died from her injuries on April 19.
On Tuesday, homicide detectives arrested Jordan Howard, 24, as a suspect in the case, police said. He is being held on investigation of first-degree murder.
