A 51-year-old man was arrested after a police standoff that began when they said they learned he was holding a woman against her will in a Salt Lake City home.
Officers responded to the Yalecrest neighborhood shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, when they were notified of a suspicious circumstance involving a domestic violence situation.
The area was locked down as officers began to negotiate with Hughes, who they said refused to come out and would not let the woman leave the home."After several attempts to get Hughes to surrender, he finally released the woman and then exited," a press release read.Officers took Hughes into custody and were told by the woman that he "prevented her from leaving and that she feared for her safety.
