Harris County man claims erotic asphyxiation led to girlfriend's death, investigators say
A man is accused of killing his girlfriend early Tuesday in east Harris County during what he said was a consensual act of choking her during sex.
Jaaron Ashton Thomas, 27, has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of Deje Garett-Hillard, according to court records. Sheriff’s deputies responded to an emergency call around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Ashland Boulevard. They found a woman who was unresponsive. She was taken to an area hospital, where she died.The woman’s boyfriend told investigators the couple had been having sex when he choked her to the point she became unresponsive, according to the sheriff’s office.
