Neighbour in hospital, man faces several charges
Greater Sudbury Police said the accidental discharge of a firearm in a Belfry Avenue apartment sent one person to hospital last night.
On Aug. 8 at 8:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to a weapons call on Belfry, which is in New Sudbury next to the New Sudbury Centre. “The initial information was that an occupant in one of the units had accidentally discharged a firearm and had shot their neighbor, who was on the balcony,” police said.
Officers arrived to find the injured man had sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, and he was taken to hospital. The 61-year-old man police said accidentally discharged his firearm was arrested at the scene, and his firearm was seized.The 61-year-old has been charged with:
