A 71-year-old man who shot a 49-year-old acquaintance last month has been charged with murder following the younger man’s death on Friday, authorities said.Monmouth County Prosecutor’s OfficeBulk was first arrested and charged with attempted murder hours after gunning down Gerard Carpinello of Portland, Pennsylvania, at a house on Woodville Road near the intersection of Appaloosa Drive around 3:15 a.m. on July 10, prosecutors allege.
Bulk was released with conditions following a detention hearing before being re-arrested Monday after Carpinello died of his injuries at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. One of Bulk’s attorneys, Thomas Campo, declined to comment Tuesday. Bulk is also represented by Tara Breslow-Testa. Bulk’s second detention hearing had not been scheduled as of late Monday morning, Campo said.
A married father of two, Carpinello grew up primarily in New Jersey and graduated from the former Monsignor Donovan High School in Toms River, according to an. He moved to Pennsylvania in 2002, where he worked as a school security guard and for a hotel.
