A bear named Grazer has won the Fat Bear Contest for the second time, beating out a dominant bear who killed her cub.
Grazer, a female brown bear from Alaska’s Katmai National Park and Preserve, has won the Fat Bear Contest for the second time. For the second time, a mama bear named Grazer has chowed down enough to win first place in this year’s Fat Bear Contest.
The contest features a select few of the thousands of bears that live in the Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska. Earlier this week — after members of the public went online to cast their votes for one of 12 bears — Grazer was announced as this year’s winner.They also could see photos of each bear from July and September, showcasing how much weight they gained as winter approaches. Grazer’s second win may have been even tastier than her first.She won by more than 40,000 votes.
