York Regional Police say a male victim is dead after a police shooting in Aurora, north of Toronto, on Wednesday night. A male victim is dead follwoing a police shooting in Aurora on Wednesday night, York Regional Police say. The shooting occurred in the area of St. John's Side Road and Bayview Avenue, north of Toronto, police said, after officers responded to a call at about 7:50 p.m. about a break-in.
"When the first officers arrived on scene they were immediately confronted by a male suspect," police said in a post on X.Ontario's Special Investigations Unit says it is investigating and more details will be released on Thursday. The SIU is an independent agency that investigates police conduct in incidents that results in death, serious injury, the discharge of a firearm or allegations of sexual assault.
