A new Suffolk University/USA Today poll shows around 86% of JoeBiden voters in the general election are comfortable with VP Kamala Harris as commander in chief if Biden is, for some reason, unable to continue as president.
A Suffolk University/USA Today poll posted on Tuesday showed around 86% of Biden voters in the general election are comfortable with Harris as commander in chief if Biden is, for some reason, unable to continue as president. The poll numbers show 53% of Biden voters are “very comfortable” with Harris as president, and around 32% reported they were “somewhat comfortable.”Harris has struggled to maintain a positive approval rating in national polls.
Harris withdrew her bid from the Democratic presidential nomination in 2019, citing a lack of funds prior to the first primary election. The then-California senator was selected by Biden as his running mate in August of 2020, making history as the first woman, the first black person, and the first South Asian American to be elected vice president.
Harris filled in for Biden on Monday during the period in which the president underwent a root canal; she first took on the presidential role briefly during a medical absence in 2021.A majority of Democratic primary and caucus voters said they would vote for Biden over Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson if the primary was held in their state today. Around 20% of voters said they were undecided.
The Biden administration appears to be promoting Harris’s record as part of the campaign's reelection strategy. Harris was featured 13 times in Biden’s announcement that he'll seek reelection.
