The 5 p.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center showed maximum sustained winds are at 115 mph with higher gusts.
NHC said Fiona is moving toward the north-northwest near 8 mph and the northwestward motion will continue through tonight, followed by a turn to the north on Wednesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles and hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles from the center. A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Bermuda, where the storm is expected to impact the island Thursday and Friday.
