A magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Saturday at 7:48 a.m. Pacific time one mile from Calexico, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey, hours after a magnitude 4.1 earthquake nearby.
The earthquake occurred three miles from El Centro, seven miles from Imperial, 16 miles from Brawley and 44 miles from San Luis, Ariz.In the last 10 days, there have been four earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.An average of 234 earthquakes with magnitudes between 3.0 and 4.0 occur per year in California and Nevada, according to a recent three-year data sample.
