Magic Time Machine celebrates 50 years of cosplay cuisine in San Antonio
The Riddler serves"smoking" drinks during a recent Friday evening at the Magic Time Machine, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The venerable theme restaurant in San Antonio is famous for its costumed servers.They just had no idea how much the theme restaurant would thrill their eyes and ears as well as their taste buds.

The characters waiting tables are just as energetic. Scooby-Doo's pal Shaggy serenades diners with a cracked-voice rendition of"Weird Al" Yankovic's"Eat It," while Velma showers one of her tables with paper napkins. And whenever a party orders the Roman Orgy, the restaurant's signature feast of roast beef and chicken with fresh fruits, a cavalcade of servers deliver the banquet with a raucous song.
Masters called the overall design “funky nostalgia," according to an Aug. 23, 1979, write-up in the San Antonio Light.
