Maggie Gyllenhaal's second directorial effort looks set to be a remake of the classic horror movie Bride of Frankenstein for Netflix.
. It would mark Gyllenhaal’s second directorial effort after 2021’s psychological drama The Lost Daughter.Very little is known about The Bride at this time, although World of Reel’s report mentions production may not begin until sometime in 2024. The movie will also star. Christian Bale’s role is currently unknown, so either actor could be playing scientist or monster.
The original Bride of Frankenstein was a continuation of 1931’s Frankenstein and saw Boris Karloff reprise the role of the monster. Dr. Frankenstein is coerced into creating a mate for the monster by a former mentor and naturally proves he learned nothing from the events of the first film.
