In a one-person cabinet shuffle on July 19, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tapped three-term Liberal MP Steven MacKinnon to take on the role of minister of labour and seniors. The outgoing minister, Seamus O’Regan , announced his departure from government on July 18 because he had decided not to seek re-election and wanted to spend more time with his family.
