SAN AGUSTÍN ETLA, México (AP) — Daniel Dávila pega saltitos para meterse en su papel y repetir su parlamento: “Yo soy el diablo chiquito, pariente de Satanás.

Si con mi padre no te fuiste, ¡conmigo sí te irás!”. El mexicano de San Agustín Etla dice que quiso ser diablo desde que cumplió 12 y participó en sus primeras “muerteadas”. En el estado de Oaxaca, donde vive, las comunidades celebran estas festividades de Día de Muertos desde niños y continúan emocionándoles por el resto de su vida.

“Pero las culturas viven y obedecen a sus tiempos. El culto a sus muertos ha ido cambiando y por eso ahora vemos una fiesta donde hay mucha alegría”. Las muerteadas tienen un guion de base para algunos personajes como el de Daniel, pero la mayoría de los actores improvisa. Sus líneas se declaman en verso y se aprovecha la ocasión para ventilar chismes locales y burlarse de los políticos.
