The super yacht, which comes with Sea-Doos, a helipad and an Italian executive chef, is en route to Europe for the summer season
One of the newest and most luxurious yachts in the world is in Halifax gearing up for a transatlantic journey to Europe. Bold, built in Australia last year, stopped en route in New York before coming to Canada and is on its maiden journey.Think of silk carpets, marble tables and a state-of-the-art media wall for outdoor cinema screenings. Of course, there’s also a jacuzzi, two Sea-Doo jet skis and a helipad.
“The vessel is not here for recreational purposes,” said Deborah Page, the director of marketing and communications for Develop Nova Scotia, a provincial Crown corporation that oversees such yachts in the harbour. “The Canadian Border Service Agency approved a short-term stop for refuelling and essential maintenance in advance of a transatlantic crossing.”
It will cost about $1,050 a night for the ship to dock in Halifax. That money is collected by Develop Nova Scotia and reinvested in public spaces and infrastructure projects. The city usually welcomes about 50 super yachts from July until October.
