By night’s end the Mavericks were in ninth place, tied with the Lakers and just half a game ahead of Utah and New Orleans.
Since the acquisition of Irving, Dallas has played nine games with both Doncic and Irving on the court and nine games with either Irving or Doncic or both missing in action. The Mavericks are 4-5 in those games. Dallas had a chance to tie, but the ball was inbounded to Doncic under the basket. Doncic missed a layup, but waved his arms in disbelief that a foul wasn’t called.
“I think the refs, the first time they called it correctly,” Doncic said. “But when we came out of the timeout, there’s another ref right down on the sideline probably thinking probably it’s Dallas ball.
