Wednesday marked the beginning of Luka Doncic's sixth NBA training camp, where he discussed topics like his chemistry with Kyrie Irving, the Mavericks' roster...
“I think we’ve got some great players, Doncic said. “You know, I think Grant is a great leader, too. He talks a lot, sometimes too much. But he’s a great, great guy, and he’s going to help us a lot. Both rookies, they’re great so far. We played two and they were great.
Ultimately, though, this season’s success, or failure, will be judged on coach Jason Kidd’s ability to mesh the talents of four-time All-Star Doncic and eight-time All-Star Irving. After Irving’s February acquisition from Brooklyn, their time together further was limited by injuries to both players.with the third season as a player option.
As Kidd noted, scoring was never a problem with last season’s Doncic-Irving Mavericks; it was a defense that finished 25th in the NBA in defensive efficiency.
