Incumbent Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick defeats Democratic challenger Mike Collier in the race for lieutenant governor.

This year, Patrick faced Democrat Mike Collier, a Houston-area accountant, at the ballot box for the second time. Collier, after coming within 5 percentage points of defeating Patrick four years ago, has run a more organized and aggressive campaign this time around —With 72 percent of precincts reporting, Patrick is ahead with 55 percent of the vote to Collier’s 43 percent. A third candidate, Libertarian Shanna Steele, sits at 3 percent.
Patrick had a massive fundraising advantage, though, and widespread name recognition that Collier could not match.
