Annie Dube and Connor Thompson celebrate after finishing the marathon at the Cape Breton Fiddlers Run on Sunday. The couple crossed the finish line together holding hands at identical times of 3:48:32. “Honestly, he kept pushing me on even when I was threatening to walk or stop,” said Dube. “And he would just say ‘No, you're doing great, keep going.’” Chris Connors/Cape Breton Post
Keeley Milne and her husband Shawn Parsons plan their vacations around running events. Both took part in their first Cape Breton Fiddlers Run on Sunday. “Anytime we go somewhere, we make sure we jump in a race somewhere,” said Parsons, who is originally from Albert Bridge. Milne, a wirter for Canadian Running, plans to share her experiences at the Cape Breton event with her readers. “It's absolutely beautiful. It was really a great race,” she said.
While they don’t always run side by side, Milne, who finished with a time of 3:39:42, said having a partner who also runs keeps her motivated.
