'Love Island' is arguably more famous for turning contestants into fast fashion influencers than helping them find love. A new sponsor in Ebay is hoping to bring sustainable fashion to the forefront.

contestants will be encouraged to wear their own new and pre-loved clothes, mixed with items from a shared wardrobe of second-hand fashion from Ebay.has a history of driving fast fashion sales, with many contestants going on to sign brand deals, design or edit their own collections, and become fashion influencers.

“Before I entered the villa, I was offered £500 to spend with the show’s sponsor,” he says. “Once I was inside, I was delivered duffel bags full of free clothes every three or four days, which I also declined. It was mind blowing to see so many clothes worn once and then discarded. The show is symbiotic with fast fashion.”

Maybe the winner will become a brand ambassador for Ebay instead of Boohoo.”
