'This made cast members hungry for social connections.'
Jeremy Hartwell, who appeared on
, has filed a lawsuit against parties including the streaming service, Kinetic Content, the production company behind the series, and Delirium TV, LLC., Hartwell's attorney, Chantal Payton of Payton Employment Law, claimed that the cast members were"intentionally unpaid", deprived of food, water, and sleep, given tons of alcohol, and were cut off from the outside world.
Payton also claimed that the producers of the show made it hard to leave the series early due to the contract stipulating that any contestant who did leave before filming was done"would be penalized by being required to pay $50,000 in 'liquidated damages.' "With that being 50 times what some of the cast members would earn during the entire time that they worked, this certainly had the potential to instil fear in the cast and enable production to exert even further control."
Laurel N Holmes, the managing partner at Payton Employment Law and another of Hartwell's attorneys, also claimed that her client was forced to take days to recover from sleep deprivation and dehydration.
