Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens says he's taking seriously U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's threat to impose a 25 per cent tariff on Canadian goods.

"This is just another shot across the bow, but it's one we should take seriously," Dilkens said, "especially in a city like mine where we are the auto capital of Canada. Detroit, just a kilometre away, is the auto capital of the US, and our supply chains are so tightly integrated." Flavio Volpe, president of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association, says his membership is divided over the benefits of TPP. He's calling for a first ministers meeting and a reinvigoration of the Team Canada approach that led to the first USMCA during Trump's first term of office.

Canada got a good deal in the current trade agreement because Canadians don't want anything different than Americans, Volpe said.
