Lorraine Kelly shared her confusion over rumours that Prince Andrew might be sent to Scotland to ‘rebuild his life’ as she called the situation ‘bizarre’ and joked that the country ‘had enough going on’ without his arrival.
It’s been claimed that Princes Charles and William lobbied the Queen to block the 62-year-old from going inDiscussing the prince with Palace Papers author Tina Brown, Lorraine even made a jokey Sound of Music reference, commenting: ‘It’s very interesting that they’re talking about what do you do with him? It’s kind of like how do you solve a problem like Andrew!’‘I don’t know – and you can tell me more about this Lorraine – I don’t think the Scots want him particularly?’ the author asked.
Prince Andrew pulled out of appearing at Monday’s Order of the Garter ceremony in an ‘unexpected return to public life’ ‘Yeah, what was all that about, sending him to Scotland?’ the presenter replied.‘I thought that was the most bizarre situation,’ she added. Prince Andrew, as a current member of Order of the Garter, will still attend a private luncheon with the Queen and other members of the ancient order of chivalry after the ceremony.
Andrew previously stepped back from public life after settling with his accuser, Virginia Giuffre, out of court earlier this year, who claimed Andrew had sexually abused her when she was 17 years old after she was trafficked by convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The prince denied the allegations, and there was no admission of liability in the deal he reached, for an undisclosed sum thought to be in the region of £12million.
