Hispanic-serving center gifted new building to help connect the community together.
LORAIN, Ohio - A community center in Lorain, focused on serving the Hispanic and Latino communities, has recently received a building.“ planning community events, when we do food pantries, or community parties, they were always involved with us,” Executive Director Victor Leandry said.
The bank decided to ‘gift’ the building to their next-door-neighbor because of their dedication to the community. “El Centro a huge reputation, even in the state, as one of the most grounded Latino social services,” Leandry said. “We have so many collaboration services that we provide that other Latino organizations in the state have.”Though there is no set plan yet for the building, Victor and El Centro are leaving it to the community.
“I’m waiting to see what the community is asking for, and I want this building to be part of this bigger initiative,” Leandry said. “ where you have the city, and you have Lorain County Metropolitan Housing working on what this community .”Unidentified: Sandusky Jane Doe found near Cedar Point still without a name
