Shreve Village Police are investigating a puppy scam in which a woman paid a $400 deposit and never received the puppy.
LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio - She fell in love with a puppy name Debra, and said she messaged the seller on Monday.
“She asked for a deposit. I was a little leery. She says ‘I’ve been doing this for 25 years,’” said Hands.SCAM: Stark County mom pays $800 and never receives Taylor Swift concert tickets“She says ‘Are you here for a puppy?” Hands explained. “And I said, “yes,” and she said, ‘Well you’ve been scammed.”19 News called Shreve Village Police. The chief says he wasn’t aware of a puppy scam until we told him.Hands isn’t the only person who went to the home looking for a puppy.
“They’re coming here and I don’t know these people. They’re getting upset with me,” said Callie Selders. “Some have been friendly. Some have been not so friendly. Bottom line they are blaming me for it and I had nothing to do with it.”“What if they are mad they didn’t get a Yorkie puppy, and they think I’m involved? Are they going to steal my dog?” Selders asked.“It affected me emotionally. I am doing this because I don’t want other people to get hurt,” said Hands.
