Nadège Jolicoeur\u0027s death was alarming. She was the sixth victim of a femicide in Quebec during the first three months of 2021.

“The police investigation revealed that Mr. Fenelon and his spouse were a couple for many years. According to the five children of the reconstituted family, they were together with no history of physical, psychological or verbal violence,” coroner Stéphanie Gamache wrote in her report. “However, testimony from some witnesses leads us to believe that a separation was coming in the near future.

The couple’s children told the police that when their parents wanted to discuss sensitive subjects, they often did so outside the family home. That appears to explain why both left their home in St-Léonard at around 12:30 a.m. on March 19, 2021, in their respective vehicles, Gamache wrote.Article content
