In a Facebook live conversation with BuzzFeed Books, authors Veronica Roth, Kevin Nguyen, John Scalzi, and C Pam Zhang share their favorite quarantine reads.

"Because we live in such a distractible time right now, I'm enjoying books that grab your mind and attention through horror tropes. The premise of this one is a young black woman is signed up for mysterious medical experiments, and she's not allowed to tell anyone about them. It's really fucking creepy. There's this one scene in it with teeth that I won't talk about any more, but I think about it once a week.

""It's a fully realist novel concerning a black graduate student in the sciences, but there's this creeping awfulness of lived everyday life and the weight of that. It's really wonderful.""I read this when I was very sad and couldn't focus on anything else. You can read it in one night; I think I read it between the hours of 1 and 3 a.m. It's so good.
