Porter County Development & Storm Water Management Director Bob Thompson announced his resignation at the Porter County Board of Commissioners meeting Tuesday, two weeks after he was accused of putting the needs of an energy company before those of taxpayers in the 2020 drafting of the county’s first solar ordinance.
“It’s not how I wanted to end a 33-year career,” Thompson said after the routine business of his department was concluded at the meeting. “After camping with my family this weekend it was decided it’s best. I do not want to work here anymore.”Thompson praised the entire staff who worked under him. “I cannot thank them enough for having my back and supporting me,” he said. “I can’t work here anymore. I just feel I have done nothing wrong.
