Last April marked 15 years since Sylvie Poirier first started working for the Parliamentary Precinct’s dry-cleaning service. And she hopes the end of this week will be the start of a new role: retiree. Heard on the Hill trekked to the Wellington Building's basement late last week to catch up with Poirer. Located next to the mailroom, the dry-cleaning service is a no-frills, well-lit space staffed by the friendly Poirier and her protegée Gwladys Raissa Kolo.

The Toronto-based Clean50 group announced its lineup of 2025 award winners on Oct. 10. “The Clean50 award recognizes leaders from across Canada who have done the most to advance climate action and develop climate solutions,” reads the press release. The trio of women MPs joined four other honourees in the Public Sector category. “Notably, three MPs from three different parties: the Liberals, NDP and Bloc Québécois, agreed to be recognized as a single team,” the release continues.
