Texas won 49-0. DALLAS — The Golden Hat didn’t sit quite right atop Quinn Ewers’ head. Texas’ quarterback didn’t seem to mind, though.
Ewers made the hard throws look pedestrian and the improbable ones look like child’s play. And after all that, he got to throw on the hat that’s gone back and forth between Austin and Norman, Oklahoma, since 1941. Texas’ offensive line didn’t struggle a bit even with two true freshmen and one sophomore making their first career starts at the Cotton Bowl.
Senior running back Roschon Johnson carried nine times for 57 yards and added two catches for 36 yards. Fourth-year receiver Jordan Whittington made one spectacular lunging grab and finished with five receptions for a team-high 97 yards. Sophomore tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders is now up to 282 receiving yards and five touchdowns after a 71-yard, two-score day.
