Police say Allen was involved in a collision and subsequently charged with impaired operation of a conveyance, impaired operation exceeding blood alcohol concentration, fail to remain, fail to report an accident, and novice driver - blood alcohol concentration above zero.

According to a police release, a passerby alerted authorities after observing a vehicle involved in a collision. The witness reported finding blood on the driver's side door, with more blood leading away from the vehicle. One passenger in Allen's vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The London Knights released a statement acknowledging the seriousness of the situation, stating they are actively gathering all pertinent information. They emphasized their collaboration with the Ontario Hockey League and confirmed that disciplinary action would be determined by the league. The Knights statement further revealed that Allen takes the matter seriously and has pledged full cooperation with the legal process.Allen, selected by the Washington Capitals in the fifth round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, has been the subject of an investigation by the Capitals. Sergey Kocharov, a Capitals spokesperson, confirmed to Global News that they are aware of the incident and are diligently gathering more information. Kocharov stressed that they will refrain from making further comments as the matter is currently under legal review. The London Knights acquired Allen from the Guelph Storm in December through a substantial trade package involving multiple draft picks and player Noah Jenken.
